THE TARANTULA TANGO
- by Amy Skelton Otey © 2004
I.
I wait for a cool autumn night,
When the moon is orangey and bright
I get ready for the Halloween scene.
See, what I really need,
Is a partner to take the lead
Takes two to tango you know,
So, get ready let's go.
The tarantula tango,
What a lovely fandango
All the way to Durango,
We'll dance the night away.
The tarantula tango,
What a lovely fandango --
Just don't offer me mango,
Because I only eat meat.
II.
Let's be a team,
We'll be such a scream
So clever, so rare
So, dress up with care,
Ah the treats we will share
You be the ghost, And I'll be your hair
The tarantula tango,
What a lovely fandango
All the way to Durango,
We'll dance the night away.
The tarantula tango,
What a lovely fandango --
Just don't offer me mango,
Because I only eat meat.
III.
Speaking of treats,
Go ahead, you take the sweets.
I'm a committed carnivore.
But, I do ask a favor,
A tender morsel to savor:
A juicy mosquito, atop a Dorito™
Or a bug burrito.
I'd settle for a Frito™.
The tarantula tango,
What a lovely fandango
All the way to Durango,
We'll dance the night away.
The tarantula tango,
What a lovely fandango --
Just don't offer me mango,
Because I only eat meat.
